it's common to bond automotive windows to cars and vans but the side of my van is made of GRP - can I use the same adhesives and primers? Or could you suggest a suitable product?

HI Graham, Unfortunately I am not familiar with the adhesives used for standard car window installation but any supplier of these should hopefully be able to advise on the adhesives compatibility to fibreglass. However for general window installation to GRP i.e. for boats Sika 296 is recommended. the window should be one with a Ceramic coating (black surround you usually find on car windscreens) which gives the seal a UV protection. Hope this helps Kind rgds Martin

I have successfully used Sikaflex to bond glass to GRP in the past but the only way to remove the glass once set is to cut it out.
